Workday's Data Initialization Service (DIS) for integrations is fast!
tl;dr: Where possible, use "DIS" instead of field override services.
I hadn't really gotten to or had a need to explore Workday's Data Initialization Service (DIS) feature as a replacement until we had an integration with 50k+ employees to scan and 40 field overrides.
- Without DIS: Integration events bombed after 6 hours of run time with, "The integration encountered an error which prevented it obtaining the list of workers with data changes."
- With DIS, the same integration event ran in under 20 minutes.
So, yup, use DIS!
